One of the leading Cebu-based Shipping Line: Cokaliong Shipping Lines Inc (CSLI) will soon launch its 15th RORO-Passenger Vessel – M/V Filipinas Ubay. She is the latest addition to its growing fleet and is intended to be used in the Cebu-Ubay, Bohol and v.v. route. The vessel will have her maiden voyage this coming Friday, March 10 2023 and a launching ceremony in Ubay Port in Bohol will happen this Saturday, March 11 2023. The vessel started its life in Japan as the former Seto (later renamed as Seto II) of the Shikoku Kisen Co Ltd. which was launched in September 2003 and built by Fujiwara Shipbuilding in their Imabari yard. She has an overall length of 65 meters, a breadth of 15 meters and a Gross Registered Tonnage of 635 tons. She carries the IMO Number 8986470 and MMSI number 431501766. The ship has a steel hull with bow and stern ramps as access to her single car deck. Hence she is classified as a RORO (Roll-on Roll-off) Vessel. The vessel arrived in Cebu last November 15 2022. Few days after she was cleared from the required government regulatory permits, she then proceeded to Dynacast Shipyard in Danao, Cebu for her hull inspection and drydocking works. After the completion of the said works, she then stayed in the Cebu Pier 1 area for refitting and repainting works. The M/V Filipinas Ubay features a new livery where the existing Cokaliong yellow/gold paint has a small red and blue stripes at the side of the vessel.
