So far I've made a small farm town called Gerill. Any advice on how to make this more realistic?

If you need to keep the buildings smaller, place one tile parks, wires, water, etc. within the zone at strategic places to keep the larger builings from forming.

Or if you want somekind of low level residents, don't put any service facilities (except power and water though)
