Description The first section railway ring was opened five years after Latvia's independence and connected Kalnipils (Eimsigburg) with Letasipils (Letachburg). The service remained in operation without problems until the annexation of Latvia by the USSR. Back then, the tram network to the south was closed while Mount Letach secretly segregated itself from the rest of the Soviet Union. When the USSR fell, the entire system reopened and remained open until now. Today, the tramway is protected by the government. The tramway surrounds and climbs the Letach.
