Plugins editor - Unofficial

Hello
A long time ago, I used to play TheoTown on my Android device, and it was a very fun experience for me. However, everything changed when they added plugins to the game. Since that moment, my life took a turn: I became passionate about programming thanks to TheoTown.
Now, I would like to give something back to the community, especially to new players who, like me back then, are just starting to explore the world of plugins.
My idea is to create an external editor and plugin creator for TheoTown, similar to what Bridge does for Minecraft Add-Ons. This editor would allow users to easily create and modify plugins, with a more user-friendly approach, like a questionnaire-based system. Although there is already a plugin creator made by a third party, my proposal is to develop a multiplatform version using React, so that it's easy to use on any device.
This project has no profit-driven intentions; it comes purely from the love for the game and the community. And of course, if the developers are on board, I would be happy to make it happen with all my enthusiasm.
With love for the community,
SrBolillo

I think creating a user friendly plugin editor for TheoTown is a great idea however it is necessary to follow the rules from the developer to be safe to use.

Update on the development of the TheoTown plugin creation software:
As I mentioned earlier, I am working on a software tool to make it easier for
TheoTown users to create plugins (
JSON and manifest). Although my initial idea was to develop a website using
React, that option is still on the table, but I’ve decided to expand the possibilities, considering other developers who might be interested in improving or recreating my work in the future.
With this in mind, I’ve created a simple
Python library that allows you to generate and read
JSON or
manifest files from data or lists directly input into the library’s functions. This makes plugin creation easier without the need to handle files directly, streamlining the process for developers.
Currently, the library is in the testing phase, so it may contain some bugs. I plan to fix these issues in the coming days. Later, I will develop a program with a graphical user interface (GUI), also
open source, to make the tool even more accessible to all users.
If the developers or administrators of
TheoTown decide to reject this initiative, I will unfortunately have to remove the library. However, the source code will still be publicly available on GitHub, so anyone interested can continue working on it independently.
My main goal is to support the TheoTown community, with no profit involved, and to ensure that the software is accessible and useful for everyone.

Hello, fellow mayors — both big and small!
I'm excited to announce the release of the first version of the Plugin Editor for TheoTown, built with React

.
You can start using it right now on my website:
https://srbolillo.net/theotown/
This is version 0.2, and although it's still in beta, it already allows you to:
Create the plugin.manifest file

Upload and preview your plugin’s icon

JSON file support will be coming soon!

If any developers are interested, I’d be happy to collaborate and make this editor available on an official platform or the TheoTown forum.

This project does not collect any user data or telemetry — not even on my server.

There might be bugs here and there, but I’ll keep improving it!
If you have any questions or feedback, feel free to contact me.
Thanks for your support, and happy building!

Version 0.5 of the Plugin Editor for TheoTown is here!
Hello mayors and developers! I'm excited to announce that version 0.5 of the editor is now live — packed with powerful new features!

What's new?
The editor now includes full support for custom JSON files, allowing you to visually edit:
- id, title, description, author
- type: residential, commercial, industrial, park
- services: water and/or power
- Building or sprite size (width, height)
- Smoke effect (smoke) and its position (x, y)

You can also:
Upload images of any size (just make sure you understand how TheoTown handles images — help is available in the official forum or inside the tool)
Create multiple JSON editors at once
Download everything in a single ZIP file, including all your .json, plugin.manifest, and uploaded images

Android version coming soon!
Soon you’ll be able to create and edit plugins directly from your Android device — anytime, anywhere.

Privacy first:
This editor does not collect or send any user data or telemetry. Everything is handled locally in your browser — nothing is saved or sent to any server.

If any TheoTown developer is interested in integrating or sharing this tool officially, feel free to contact me through the forum.

I'm just thrilled that I've found such a creative and unusual community, albeit a simple pixel pixel simulator. But cases like your website for improved plugin creation just can't make me feel amazing. I'll try to do something with your project.
Moreover, this project is almost on a voluntary basis. WITHOUT ANY INCOME FROM THIS IDEA!
You are a genius, and your ambitions definitely go beyond the community.

Thank you for your feedback!
I'm open to sharing the source code so other developers can contribute to the project or adapt it for their own needs.
My goal is to bring the editor to Android to make it more accessible to everyone — especially since I’ve noticed that most TheoTown players use Android devices.

Version 0.6 of the TheoTown Plugin Editor is now live!
We're constantly improving! This new version brings full translation of the website and online tool

The editor is now available in 7 languages:
English

Spanish

Portuguese

German

French

Simplified Chinese

Russian

Note: Some of these translations were generated with the help of AI, so a few texts might not be perfectly accurate. I’m working on improving them — the goal is to make the site accessible and comfortable for players around the world

I'm the only one developing this project, I don't ask for anything in return other than your opinions.
