Suggestions for Bus System

Suggestions for Bus System

1. Fix the "ghost bus" bug – Often, even when a line is assigned only one vehicle, multiple buses will appear to follow the route together. Only one of them is real; the rest are "ghost buses." These ghost buses generally do not follow the designated route and wander randomly around the city, disrupting traffic flow.
2. Reduce bus prices – The prices, especially in the late game, are too high. Buying just a few buses can easily bankrupt a city without the player noticing. I suggest significantly lowering bus prices. If game balance is a concern, this could be offset by reducing passenger capacities accordingly (e.g., 200-passenger buses down to 160, 140-passenger buses down to 120, etc.).
3. Allow a single stop to be passed by the same line twice or more – This would make it easier to build routes with an intermediate intersection point (e.g., Start → A → B → C → D → B → E → End) and Q‑shaped loop lines (e.g., Terminus → A → B → C → D → E → B → A → Terminus).
4. Allow line stops to be assigned to specific physical platforms, not just general stations – This would enable more precise route control. For example, sometimes a line that should run on the expressway is instead forced onto the service road simply because the service road also has a station with the same name—but that platform is not intended for the express bus to stop at.
5. Allow separate route settings for outbound and inbound directions – This would facilitate building teardrop‑shaped routes (e.g., ... → A → B → Terminus → C → D → ...) and allow for more accurate directional control. For instance, for routes that use the service roads alongside a highway, since the highway is two tiles wide, the stops on the opposite service roads cannot be merged into one—making separate directional routing essential.

One more suggestion: Allow adjusting fares for each line individually.

Interesting but I don't think this would happen

Every time you buy a new bus the price increase is too much, you will need billions to buy your 15th bus, the price should be constant but bigger buses need a high level. For the other suggestions it’s quite difficult to code that

The third suggestion is largely driven by the bus shortage caused by the high vehicle prices. For example, in my city, Line 10 normally has a usage rate of only about 20% (as shown in Figure 1), yet it occupies two buses, which is unreasonable. I plan to have Line 10 make a detour around the airport, as shown in Figure 2: the red line is the current Line 10, while the yellow and green lines represent the route going from the current line to the airport and back. This requires the implementation of the third suggestion.
