How to cast

So I've been looking at country-based RPGs for four minutes, and it looks good! I see the usual use of templates, treaties and world building... but then I go into a war, 300 tanks are sent out, like millions of nukes (more or less) ), so should I worry about the lack of realism? I want to start my own country, so ask first.
