Smog

I have an idea for a disaster: smog. It would upset the population and it would be caused by lots of traffic and/or polluting buildings in a concentrated area. You could solve this issue by spreading out your industrial buildings or by getting better transportation.

I can see that as a disaster.

I don't think it will be a good idea, cause:
Rich habitants are very sensitive to pollution,
It will take so much space in the city,
You're 40,000 population might be down to 25,000 in 2 minutes.

People not die, but abandon their houses due to smog.

Thats the point of a disaster. If it didn't have bad effects it wouldn't be worth adding. You cant be so afraid of losing a few inhabitants.

Then, it will be too hard, especially to non sandbox and new cities. How can you raise a town if people keep complaining of smog?

Spread out your industrial zones and control your traffic better.

At new towns, Traffic isn't much a problem.
But spreading out industries means the mayor will spend more money for the roads, pipes, roads, and sometimes wires. Plus expensive zones, parks, power, water..

You act like pipes, roads and power lines are expensive. The only expensive part would be zones. I also said that parks could stop the smog as well because they reduce pollution, so there's another way to solve it. Also, if they wanted to, they could balance it by only having it happen with extreme causes of pollution or traffic. Plus, even if they do implement it, it doesnt mean that they'll do it exactly like I said.
