Airport functionality for plugin
Hi guys,
I played around with the new airport for a while and started wondering which elements would really be necessary to get planes flying in the game.
Obviously, the runway is needed and a plane. Also it seems that the tower is needed in order to assign a plane to a runway
But what else do I need?
Do I have to connect the tower and runways with the airport road?
Do I need a flight gate or any other of the buildings?
Is it possible to replace the tower with a plugin or to create an additional plugin that works like a tower?

You can add your own planes. I have been unsuccessful so far in getting one of my own roads to build in the airport. If you want traffic to use an airport road (at airport road speed limit), build a regular road first, then the airport road on top.
Since any gate, entry, or tower plugin and would have to supply the choose a lane, add a plane, etc dialogs which are hardcoded in the game; you would have to ask @Lobby .

Yes, you need to connect the airport road between gates and the runway.
The taxis spur the airplanes to take off much quicker.

That is a bit sad, because I would like to use proper and wider (deco-)taxiways with markings instead of the blank 1x1-road.
So, will the planes not start at all without the road, or will it just take longer?
About the tower:
Overriding would probably work though?

You can place decorations in the airport zone.

Yes, I understand. The thing is, that I would like to have an airport that works properly like the ingame airport, but without the roads and instead with more realistic taxiways and maybe an alternative Tower
You see, if I place deco-tiles as taxiways it would look weird if I had to draw out the roads as well.

Alright, I've had the opportunity to test it without any road connection to the runway at all, and indeed it takes a bit longer (a couple of minutes) until the plane takes off again. It could be better but it is still acceptable, I think.
