I would really want to upload towns to a community and see other peoples towns.

I'd love that too. (Actually, I am pretty sure we already can share the save files. But a server to centralize that would be great).

We already can rename the buildings to add a bit of flavour to fellow players. If we could add comments (longer texts), it would be even better...

I have seen in other communities (such as dwarf fortress) succession games too : someone plays a city for a number of years, the posts it on the forum, and someone picks it up for a few years, then posts it too. We already can do it manually, via the forum.
But automatizing it would be great (a kind of asynchronous cooperative multiplayer), moreover if we could add some general description to the game (comments of what has been done already, story...)

For such thing like sharing we would need another server.
But a server who handles these transfers is not for free.
We only have very low income with TheoTown, so we do not have the money to rent such a server.

But I totaly agree with this idea. Would be nice feature

I see 2 things which might help sharing cities with no need of a new server :
- letting theotown automatically open city files when they are clicked (or selected in a directory)
- allowing .city files upload on the forum

Edit : here is a test for a succession game. Ireb, a tiny sea village built around captain hook's tiny house. The mayor might have over sized that beach, though...
