32 pixels wide. 16 high for just flat tile. 256 high normal max.

Templates are free, because you are just using them as building borders but you should hive credit if you use world texture in your art work

Have you open tutorial to make a plugin by lobby? If yes you must be see that.

Here a collection of templates for your base. When creating a building with it, don't change the width of the image. You can adjust the height, but pay attention on that the base should always touch the bottom edge to pivot point can be calculated correctly.

If you want to create a building bigger than 8x8 consider to split it up into smaller buildings instead. Also don't take over, it's a lot of work to create even a 2x2 building and you have limited texture space. So, why not start with a simple 1x1 building?
